Molex is seeking a Controls Engineer to join our talented team in Pinellas Park, Florida. The Controls Engineer will create value by producing easy to operate, safe, on-time equipment that will give Molex a competitive advantage in the marketplace. The Controls Engineer works independently across all departments and functional areas, focusing on improvement, support, and development of new and existing equipment control systems.

What You Will Do

  • Provides controls feasibility and equipment cost estimates. Specifies controls hardware and generates bills or material and creates schematics
  • Manage, prioritize, and implement controls projects requested by management, engineering, quality, and production areas, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Proactively find and implement process improvement opportunities to resolve manufacturing equipment's design, safety, and process issues with existing and new equipment
  • Assists in executing the machine debug, qualification, and installation
  • Provide controls technical leadership, knowledge, and direction to maintenance support personnel as required.
  • Ensure smooth transition of new products to the manufacturing facilities by participating in the New Process Development (NPD) process to understand and give direction on machine controls and product inspection/test issues.
  • Research and develop new equipment and control technologies related to Molex manufacturing processes to continuously improve our manufacturing methods.
  • Understands, supports, and contributes to complete projects according to internal product development procedures, TQM, and ISO-9000/IATF 16949 requirements. Embraces Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Associates degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • One (1) year or more Control Panel Design & PLC Programming Experience (Allen Bradley and Omron)
  • One (1) year or more experience with Vision system (Cognex, Keyence, or equivalent)
  • Experience in generating Industrial Electrical Schematics including Safety Guarding Standards
  • Experience with troubleshooting, modification, and repair of electronic and electrical control systems
  • Experience using CAD to communicate design, fabrication, and support of electronic/electrical control systems
  • Experience troubleshooting, and modifying control system's ladder, script, or high-level programming code


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
  • HMI Programming Experience (Redlion, Pro-Face)
  • Experience with TwinCAT (Beckhoff) and Sysmac (Omron)
  • Experience with the design of electronic and electrical control systems
  • Experience in configuration and troubleshooting of PC operating systems, software, hardware, and network systems
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting of servo, robotic, machine vision, and pneumatic systems
  • Experience with the design of machine electrical and safety circuits using NFPA, ANSI and OSHA standards.
  • Experience with high level software programming language (.Net or 'C++')
  • Experience with statistical tools and methods
