Job Description:

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in psychology, social services, or related field preferred. Lived experience with serious mental illness, substance use disorder, or homelessness and/or experience gained by family member experience/diagnosis. Experience navigating the mental/physical healthcare systems and other community support resources. Must have reliable transportation, liability insurance, and FL driver's license.

Preferred Qualification:

Bilingual skills preferred but not required. Knowledge of community resources or ability to learn quickly.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with participants.

  • Assist participants in identifying personal recovery goals and setting objectives for each goal.

  • Provide peer counseling.

  • Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.

  • Conduct outreach activities, initiating/maintaining direct contact with participants.

  • Facilitate wraparound/recovery supports (e.g., transportation, social connection, job training, benefits enrollment) using the individual treatment plan.

  • Assist participants in problem solving and maintaining self-care needs.

  • Assist participants in establishing self-sufficiency, continuing treatment gains, and retaining housing/employment.

  • Collaborate with treatment team to develop and review treatment plans.

  • Network with Advisory Council and other community stakeholders to advocate for participants.

  • Educate the community about peer support services, and the peer-based philosophy.

  • Completes all required agency trainings as to maintain 100% compliance.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This position operates in a professional office environment, judicial building and in community based settings. Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during work hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Is involved with clients, family members, court and county personnel and government agencies.

Position Type, Expected Hours of Work and Travel:

This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week, with some early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday hours required to meet need of clients. On call rotation may be required.Travel is required.

Position may be available but not limited to any of the following programs:

  • Housing Outreach Team (HOT): The target population is homeless individuals and families that are addressing behavioral health, mental health, and substance use disorders.

  • Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT): The target population is high need/high utilizer individuals who are addressing both behavioral health and mental health concerns.

  • Harm Reduction (WISH): The target population is individual with opioid disorder or other identified substance use disorders who are at high risk of overdose.

  • FACT: The target population is high need/high utilizer individuals with identified behavioral and mental health concerns.

Entry Pay Range:

$13.70 - $19.21
