ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

LOCATION: Tampa

DIRECT REPORTING: Quality Systems Manager

POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The Quality Specialist II performs the Quality Assurance activities that directly support process improvement and compliance to internal controls. They monitor procedures, documented information storage, internal audits, workflows, and address quality issues when they arise. They monitor and track internal and supplier corrective actions and ensure response timelines are met. The Quality Specialist II is responsible for creating and monitoring controls to improve processes. They have daily/weekly meetings with the cross functional teams to maintain a line of communication between the QA team, Leadership, and the other functional teams in the facility. The Quality Specialist II maintains and reports out appropriate metrics for the QA department.

Principal Activities

  • Develop process flow charts/diagrams and process failure mode effects analyses reports
  • On-going management of Quality systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Manage SOP and Quality Work Instruction System. Manage the development and implementation of requisite SOPs and Work Instructions for ISO compliance and customer requirements.
  • Manage Change Controls and administer Change Control system.
  • Work with Training Coordinator to identify training opportunities based on SOP and Work Instruction updates.
  • Ensure that appropriate records are properly controlled. Manage the proper storage and filing of controlled documents.
  • Maintain weekly metrics associated with the CAPA system.
  • Support for problem solving teams to drive root cause and corrective/preventive action plans
  • Create statistically valid control plans for manufacturing processes
  • Use of lean and six sigma tools to drive variation reduction
  • Conduct and participate in quality system, process, and product audits
  • Assist Quality Control personnel in reviewing and updating department standards.
  • Prepare Quarterly Management Reviews.
  • Report any problems or difficulties to the Quality Manager.
  • Promote the pursuit of continuous improvement.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management

Job Requirements:

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience in Process Mapping and associated software ( Visio, Lucid Charts, etc)
  • Direct hands on experience working in a quality / inspection function
  • Direct experience with Process Improvement
  • Results oriented, with sound judgment.
  • Excellent demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and strategic skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform multi-faceted projects in rapidly changing environment
  • Resourceful and well organized
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Familiarity with inspection tools and gauging (calipers, micrometers, ring and plug gauges, bore micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
  • Must have an understanding of how an ERP system functions
  • Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering or Quality, with at least 2 years' relevant experience in hands on manufacturing
  • 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing, engineering or Quality role will be considered in lieu of a degree
