POSITION SUMMARY:
The Respiratory Therapist's purpose is to provide quality respiratory care to our patients, including routine and complex procedures, using a wide variety of techniques and equipment. Collaborates care with the multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with others. Ensures patient care meets quality standards established by the hospital, department and regulatory agencies. Is accountable for maintaining all skills and knowledge necessary to provide safe, effective and developmentally appropriate respiratory care to all ages of patients from neonate to adolescent. Along with other members of the care team, is responsible for patient outcomes that meet the high standards of care provided by JHACH. Able to travel to outreach locations in personal car (will be reimbursed for mileage and travel time) , experience with tracheostomies and home ventilators.Work Hours: 8am - 4:30pm (M-F)

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Assesses patients clinical status, evaluates progress toward goals, and recommends courses of action to determine a plan of care
Plans for patient's respiratory care needs in collaboration with other members of the care team to provide the highest quality of clinical outcomes
Safely performs various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established standards, procedural guidelines and policies to provide safe patient care
Analyzes critical situations and applies appropriate judgement and critical thinking to achieve problem resolution
Accurately and reliably interprets and communicates patient results to support patient care
Documents interventions performed and response to therapies in the electronic medical record to result in compliant and useful documentation
Interacts with and explains therapeutic modalities to patients, families and the interdisciplinary team in an understandable manner based on learning styles and individual diversity to ensure collaborative care coordination
Effectively works in a team-based environment especially during stressful situations involving quickly changing priorities to achieve the highest quality of patient outcomes.
Willing to obtain the RPFT credentials
Able to work independently
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's Degree
Current Florida Respiratory Therapist Licensure
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NRBC) OR current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) OR an equivalent credential acceptable to the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Must be a graduate from a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Commission of Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
Minimum of 1 year experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Current PALS certification from the American Heart Association or must be obtained within 120-day orientation period
Current NRP certification if working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
