Salary Range: 66,640.36 - 80,801.43

Position Summary

This position is responsible for assuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Act, Section 504 and Title II, and other related sections and titles, such as, Sections 501, 503, 508, related WCAG standards, and Titles I and IV of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Compliance, the ADA/504 Officer is responsible coordinating and tracking the Colleges progress of its policies, rules, and procedures, and state and federal laws relating to persons with disabilities, investigates allegations of discrimination and non-compliance under ADA/504 and other related ADA sections and titles, and the College's grievance procedure for non-employees and students with disabilities. Also conducts audits of ADA and Section 504 processes, files all necessary reports, and provides consultative services to Accessibility Services and other constituents.

Essential Duties

  • Ensures that appropriate processes are in place to provide for the prompt and equitable resolution of grievances and inquiries from students and non-employees regarding compliance with ADA/504 and other related sections and titles, the College's grievance procedure for non-employees and students with disabilities, and other applicable federal and state laws regarding discrimination on the basis of disability.
  • Investigates allegations of discrimination and non-compliance pertaining to students and non-employees under ADA/504 and other related sections and titles , the College's grievance procedure for non-employees and students with disabilities, and other applicable federal and state laws regarding discrimination on the basis of disability.
  • Maintains a record of disability and accommodation grievances pertaining to students and non-employees and issues the resolution of each as outlined in the College's grievance procedure for non-employees and students with disabilities.
  • Ensures that the system for responding to concerns pertaining ADA/504 and other related sections and titles is timely, consistent, and the same at each campus and compliant with related College Rules, Procedures, laws, and regulations in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • May collaborate with the EA/EO Office when appropriate regarding grievances of disability discrimination filed by a student or non-employee with the EA/EO Office.
  • Advises Associate Provosts and Accessibility Services Coordinators on the responsibilities relating to accessibility and educational opportunities for students based on ADA/504 regulations and other related sections and titles, accommodations, and the Board of Trustees Rules and College Procedures at each campus.
  • Conducts systematic reviews and audits of processes pertaining to ADA/504 and other related sections and titles, policies, Board of Trustees Rules and College Procedures, handbooks, non-discrimination statements, access information, grievance procedures are up to date, appropriately posted, and distributed as required for monitoring compliance with state and federal regulations and best practices.
  • Regularly reviews the College's trainings related to ADA/504 regulations and other related sections and titles, and practices for faculty, staff, and students for compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Ensures there is a process for the notification of rights, referral, evaluation, planning, and implementation for students with disabilities under Section 504 and other related sections and titles.
  • Develops and maintains written materials and other informational pieces to broadly disseminate information regarding the ADA and the Colleges policies relating to persons with disabilities.
  • Designs and/or participates in the development of presentations and trainings for students, faculty, and staff on the provision of equal access and equal opportunity for persons with disabilities.
  • Serves as the primary College ADA/504 liaison with relevant state and federal agencies, as well as other ADA/504 coordinators at other colleges, universities, and associations.
  • Stays informed on ADA/504 and other related laws, regulations, and pending legislative changes that may affect the College and students with disabilities.
  • Participates in the coordination of responding to ADA/504 and Title II OCR inquiries and investigations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college with a focus in post-secondary education, secondary education, psychology, human relations, human resources, social work, or related field. Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in accessibility or disability services, understanding ADA/504 and other related sections and titles, regulations and related laws, resolution of disability related grievances, conducting investigations, responding to ADA/504 inquiries from the OCR and other regulatory agencies, and accessing processes and procedures. Any combination of education and experience may be considered suitable to satisfy the minimum hiring requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ADA Coordinator Training Certification
  • Master's degree in related field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Act, Section 504 and Title II, and other related sections and titles, such as, Sections 501, 503, 508, related WCAG standards, and Titles I and IV of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities in secondary and post-secondary education.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in conducting investigations and managing complaint resolution processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with the capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in using computer software and systems related to investigations, reporting, and document management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite including knowledge of, and experience using Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and TEAMs.
  • Advanced presentation and communication skills, including written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Aptitude in analyzing complex situations, identifying relevant factors, and making informed decisions.
  • The ability to assess risks, determine appropriate courses of action, and propose practical solutions in compliance with laws and regulations.

Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate. Ability to drive between campuses. Ability to stand, bend, reach and lift 20 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Schedule: M-F, 8-5 and as needed. Eligible to work a hybrid schedule in the office and remotely.
