Summary

The position of Senior Manager, Business Development entails the crucial responsibility of expanding the CAE Department of Defense US Army Military Training portfolio. This involves engaging with key decision makers in PEO STRI, TACOM, TRADOC, and INSCOM to broaden current Training System programs, ongoing research & development programs, and identifying new business opportunities across all Army areas. The primary objectives of this role include the expansion of the United States Army portfolio to all Army Ground programs within the USA and other DoD Armed Services, and the enhancement of CAE's modeling and simulation technologies. The Senior Manager, Business Development is expected to work collaboratively with program and functional teams in developing program growth strategies, in direct coordination with the USA customer. The position entails leading the strategic effort to introduce these capabilities and solutions to new customers, with a particular focus on identifying opportunities that have solution-requirements based on these technologies to enable customers to train for near-peer threats. Other responsibilities include identifying and qualifying opportunities, managing customer relationships, gathering competitive intelligence, planning customer engagement, analyzing customer needs, and leading capture teams. The role requires the Senior Manager, Business Development to be co-located near major customer sites and report directly to the Director of Army & Special Operations Business Development and Strategy. To be eligible for the position, the candidate must possess a Secret clearance (expired less than two years) and have the ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret Clearance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing strategies and tactics for new Defense and Government agency business that align with the company's strategic plan.
  • Leading and directing the promotion and sale of the company's mission rehearsal, decision support, modeling and simulation products and services, training systems, and training services.
  • Placing a primary focus on maturing relationships and developing Army Ground related opportunities with the USA customer, expansion of PEO STRI related programs, and expanding CAE's TRADOC, TACOM and INSCOM customers.
  • Demonstrating a sound understanding of and maintaining relationships with US Army Material Command, TACOM, PEO STRI, Army Research Laboratory (ARL), Program Executive Officers (PEOs), and Program Offices (POs).
  • Proven knowledge of the USA acquisition process and industry pursuit cycle, with the ability to influence, build relationships, communicate, understand customer needs, and develop winning strategy/solutions.
  • Providing input into the technical solution and "Price to Win," and assisting with business case analysis.
  • Developing and nurturing relationships with key customers and industry peers at various levels throughout their respective organizations.
  • Preparing and packaging concise, clear, and compelling briefings that include the positioning strategy/plan, customer map, needs, and action plans required to implement a winning strategy.
  • Generating and communicating business case rationale, risks, and customer value propositions to Senior Leadership and teams.
  • Generating detailed assessments of the customer landscape through experience, research, and engagement.
  • Analyzing and understanding the customers' desired capabilities, the competitive environment, and technological trends, and incorporating the data into actionable strategies and tactics.
  • Organizing and guiding cross-functional teams in developing the strategies and business cases to support positioning and capturing new opportunities.
  • Supporting fellow Business Development leads with adjacent pursuit strategies, providing customer and capability subject matter expertise.
  • Coordinating and leading customer demonstrations and oral presentations.
  • Leading the preparation of a competitor analysis to support capture strategies as necessary.
  • Working across CAE USA Segments to define the customer problem space and messaging - including an effective customer engagement plan and mapping.
  • Coordinating the development and implementation of marketing communications campaigns to support pursuits.
  • Demonstrating strong presentation skills to make presentations to potential partners, customers, government entities, and internal management at all levels.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures and other practices set forth by upper management. Develop strategies and tactics for new Defense and Government agency business consistent with the strategic plan.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering or another applicable field.
  • 3-5 Years Defense Contractor Business Development experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience with the USA
  • Experience and Understanding of the US Department of Defense organizations
  • U.S. Army Ground background (Armor, Infantry, Combat Engineer, Intel)
  • Extensive experience with Army Ground Programs, TRADOC, and Intelligence community
  • Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain one quickly (i.e. expired less than 2 years)
  • A proven track record of sustained business growth, large organization leadership or leading large government programs
  • Must have knowledge of the Department of Defense acquisition process, policy governing sales of defense equipment
  • Comprehensive understanding of the USA acquisitions process, priorities and the expertise to turn that knowledge into new business through capture management
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills including the ability to generate written material to communicate to customers at all levels, including senior executives
  • Experience leading teams and managing budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to build customer and industry relationships
  • Experience in the training and simulation market a plus and highly desirable
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the year

  • Army Background with knowledge in Army Ground, Armor, Intel

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.Ability to travel up to 20% of the year is required.
