Salary: DOE $50k-70k 5k Bonus after 6 months of employment

Hours: M-F Days / On Call as needed

What You Need to Know

Music Therapist Responsibilities:

  • Performs as a member of the interdisciplinary team, provides music therapy consultations and services to the patient and/or family in accordance with the interdisciplinary plan of care while following all AccentCare policies and procedures.
  • Supports the business development activities of the organization. Provide bereavement counseling to family members as identified.
  • Complete the music therapy assessment with patient and family when referred in accordance with the interdisciplinary plan of care. Plan music therapy interventions. Implement the music therapy interventions in accordance with the interdisciplinary plan of care. Guide the patient in the use of creative therapeutic activities for the purpose of improving or maintaining mental and physical function and quality of life.
  • Instruct other care team members including, when appropriate, hospice aides and family members in the use of music to achieve individualized care plan goals.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of music therapy services with the patient and/or family-of-choice. Document all services provided to hospice patients and families in the clinical record. Terminate therapy services when appropriate.
  • Provide in-services to staff, hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities as requested and determined appropriate by therapist. Participate in the on-call schedule as required. Support the bereavement program at the site level, including, but not limited to: Completing bereavement calls and visits to offer counseling and support; Facilitating bereavement support groups in the community, including an annual memorial service; Participating in the monthly bereavement committee meetings; Keeping the bereavement binder up-to-date (with meeting minutes, sign-in sheets from groups/workshops, etc.).

Qualifications

Music Therapist Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in M usic with a concentration in Music Therapy and/or Music Therapy from an American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) approved university (or undergraduate equivalency program approved by AMTA).
  • Board Certified as a Music Therapist (MT-BC) by the Certification Board for Music Therapy (CBMT). State-specific qualification requirements
  • Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapist advanced credential preferred.Previous experience with terminally ill patients/families is highly desirable.
  • Qualifications for state-specific requirements above minimum education standards
  • Must have reliable automobile, valid driver's license and the minimum state required liability auto insurance.
