Capital One Developer Academy Associate - 2021

At Capital One, we consider ourselves the bank a technology company would build. We're delivering best-in-class innovation so that our 65 million customers - and counting - can manage their finances with ease. Our reality and vision empower our engineers to use artificial intelligence and machine learning to transform real-time data, software, and algorithms into financial clarity. That's what sets us apart - and we want you to join our journey.

We also recognize that representation is lacking across the tech industry and within computer science programs. At Capital One, we are committed to ensuring historically underrepresented groups have access to impactful tech careers.

In 2017, we launched Capital One Developer Academy (CODA), creating a pathway for non-computer science students from diverse backgrounds, majors, academic disciplines and experiences into technology, building a more diverse engineering team at Capital One.

Help us take on our top technology challenges in a completely new way as a CODA associate.

What we offer:

Capital One Developer Academy (CODA) is a unique, intensive six-month training program that prepares individuals from analytical and non-Computer Science backgrounds for a Software Engineering career at Capital One. As a CODA Associate, you'll spend your first six months learning how to code and working alongside engineers who will mentor you through the program. Plus, you'll have all the tools you need to make, break - and repeat. This is a job that equips you for the future and helps you build your career in tech.

Candidates with full stack development experience and strong technical backgrounds are encouraged to consider.

What you'll gain:

The CODA program is designed to equip you with the tools to set you for success as an Associate Software Engineer at Capital One. Our proven curriculum will help you gain:

  • Programming knowledge and proficiency in full stack development (think JavaScript, Angular, databases, Node, Cloud Engineering, Cyber Security, and API development), as well as a host of new technologies that our engineers are using every single day.

  • Mentorship and training through guest lectures, conferences, and tech talks to help build your skills on topics such as iOS and Android, AWS, the Software Development Life Cycle, Voice Driven Applications, Machine Learning, and more.

Upon successful completion, Associates will then join our Technology Development Program (TDP), a two-year rotational program for full-time software engineers.

Continuous Learning

The learning doesn't stop upon successful completion of the CODA program. We're here to help you gain knowledge both on the job and in the classroom. Our engineers have access to continuous learning through our very own Tech College, a world-class learning hub that offers both online and in-person classes across 13 disciplines-Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Mobile Development, Machine Learning & AI, to name a few.

Life at Capital One

Our associates flourish in our open culture where diversity of ideas and collective wisdom prevail. We proudly bring together associates with different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences to challenge the status quo.

We are dedicated to fulfilling and supporting each member of our team. We're focused on helping associates live well-physically, financially and emotionally. When you join us, we support you and those who are most important to you, offering full coverage for spouses, domestic partners, and dependents. We've designed our benefits program to be flexible, comprehensive, and consistent across our organization. From health and fitness centers and discounts, to training and professional development programs-and much more-you'll discover that Capital One is committed to helping you live your best life.

An ideal candidate would possess:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher obtained between December 2019 and August 2021 in Math, Science, MIS, BIT, or another quantitative major.

  • Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, and conceptual skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.

  • A demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in technology as a software engineer.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher obtained between December 2019 and August 2021.

At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
